Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Kids will love
If you’ve ever baked with your kids you know they love mixing, smashing eggs, and taste testing! I know mine do. This recipe is great because it has many fun ingredients they can sample, mix together, and even just smell – like nutmeg and cinnamon. When we bake they each get their own special spatula and we have matching aprons, yes we are that family! They love it and they feel extra special in them. Trust me, it’s well worth the cost to grab those items to make it a special afternoon!
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp White Sugar
- 1 and 1/2 cup of Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 cup Butter or Margarine
- 2 Eggs
- 1 tbsp Vanilla
- 3 cups oats
- 1 and 1/2 cups of Raisins
Instructions
- Add 1 cup of brown sugar to your mixing bowl.
- Add 1/2 cup and 2 tbsp of white sugar to your mixing bowl.
- Next add your 1 and 1/2 cups of flour to your mixing bowl.
- Add 1/2 tsp of salt.
- Next add your 1 tsp of baking soda to your mixing bowl.
- Add your 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp of nutmeg to your mixing bowl.
- Give your ingredients a little mix, this is always fun for kids to mix up!
- Add your 1 cup of butter or margarine. I personally used margarine but both work great for this recipe!
- Next, add your two eggs to your mixing bowl. Kids always have a blast cracking eggs! Just make sure no shells get in.
- Add 1 tbsp of Vanilla.
- Mix up your ingredients, I used a hand mixer at this point to ensure it was mixed well. You can also mix by hand if you wish. I usually let my kids have some fun mixing before using the hand mixer.
- Once it’s mixed well add in your 3 cups of oats! If you prefer a little less oats this recipe also works with just 2.
- Add your 1 and 1/2 cups of raisins. I used sultana raisins.
- Mix well with a hand mixer until all the raisins and oats are fully mixed into the batter.
- Once fully mixed, simply roll about 1 to 2 tbsp of cookie dough into a ball. You may do whatever size cookie you prefer! Once rolled place on a non stick baking sheet or pre sprayed baking sheet.
- Place in oven at 350 degrees F for 12 to 15mitures depending on how you like your cookies. 12 will leave them soft, as 15 will make them more crispy on the edges.
